Laura Lakey

Laura first met John when he was an Art Director for the Ziegfield Follies. She was little more than a girl then. She had always had an interest in art, as well as Quantum Physics. She pursued a career in art because it was easier, and didn't involve all that math stuff. Her first published works were for CAVALIER magazine. Subsequently, she worked for a wide variety of publications and book

companies. Her first love, was a guy named Sheldon, but her second love has
always been science fiction. She was a frequent contributor to ISAAC
ASIMOV, ANALOG, and AMAZING. In time, Laura's interest in science
fiction became something of an obsession.   Her family's timely intervention

changed the course of her life, but resulted in the
tragic "disintegration" of her cousin Lyle. Laura
moved on. Eventually, her interests broadened to
include fantasy, western, and bondage art. Though
Laura continues her illustrative career with John in
their Arizona studio,  her fine arts efforts are
currently on display in a North Scottsdale gallery.  

These days, Laura takes comfort in the fact
that she'll probably outlive John and will
finally be an age appropriate girlfriend for
Harrison Ford, maybe even Sean Connery...

unit in Miami. Eventually he evolved to be the Creative
Director for a major toy company. After a while, the
demand for major toys petered out and John moved to
Arizona with his wife, Laura, and their two daughters.  He
was the Pre-production Designer for Fox Animation, but
was not directly responsible for the demise of the studio. He
has been a freelance book and magazine illustrator for his
entire career, contributing close to a thousand published
pieces over the past 25 years. Many of the magazines and
periodicals are still in business.
